Ingredients

To make an apple pie with cream cheese, you need ingredients for the pastry, for the filling and for the egg wash/coating. To make the pastry you need6 ounces or 12 tablespoons of unsalted butter at room temperature. Additionally, you need 6 ounces of cream cheese at room temperature and 11 ounces or 2 and 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour. Besides this, you need 6 tablespoons of heavy cream, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and ½ teaspoon of salt.

 

For the filling, you need 7-8 medium-sized apples, ¼ cup of all-purpose flour and cornstarch. Moreover, you need ½ cup of sugar, ¼ cup brown sugar, a teaspoon of cinnamon, and 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg. Additionally, you will need a dash of salt and 2 tablespoons of butter. Besides this, you will need egg yolk and milk for egg coating.

Directions

Step 1: Pastry Making

To make the pastry, you need an electric mixer. Add butter and cream cheese in the mixer and beat it until it turns creamy. Then add heavy cream and beat until it gets smooth. After this, add all-purpose flour, sugar, and ½ teaspoon of salt in the same mixer. Beat the mixture until the dough holds together.

Knead the dough and make a ball with it. Then cut the ball into half and give it a disk-like shape. When you are done with it, place it in the refrigerator for half an hour.

Step 2: Prepare the Filling

For the filling, peel the apples and slice them into thin pieces. Then take a bowl and put thinly sliced apples along with lemon juice, all-purpose flour, cornstarch, and both granulated and brown sugar. Step 3: Making the Pie

Take the disk out from the refrigerator and use a rolling pin to roll out the dough. After rolling both disks, place one disk in the pie pan and press it in the bottom and trim edges.
